5 prompts to uncover your most global version 🌍

Remember seven months ago when you were dreaming up your big 2023 plans? Now is the time to grab those journal entries to regroup, realign, and redefine. We’re in the pit of the year, which is both exciting and nerve-wracking. Have no fear boo boo, if you feel you’re off track, now is the time to remind yourself of the journey you wanted to be on this year.

Welcome to August; we’ll send you four newsletters to have you thinking about Growth, Expansion, and of course, Travel. Summer (or Winter) holidays are the perfect excuse to curl up with your journal entries from the start of the year and assess your thoughts, feelings, and actions and ask yourself: am I going where I wanted to go this year?

Confession: my word for the year was “Awe.” When I first picked it, in my head, I pictured scaling glaciers in foreign places, eating wild foods, and being immersed in environments you save on your Instagram collections. But to be real, my version of “awe” has been the polar opposite of what I initially hoped for.

I’m in awe I’ve hired an assistant and started attacking my inbox and hectic calendar. I’m in awe I finished the 21 Day Language Challenge. I’m in awe I’m learning Dutch and reordering how my brain forms thoughts. I’m in awe the JoClub team is growing nutritiously, as is the movement.

And while this year hasn’t exactly been “GI Jo climbing up Mount Kilimanjaro,” there is still awe here to be felt. Now is the perfect time to appreciate how far you’ve come while planning how you want to spend the second chunk of the year.

Personally, my main goal is to carve out more space for mystery ingredient X - those random moments where life happens.

Regardless of where you are in your year, we hope we can inspire you to continue to grow, expand, and travel both inwardly and outwardly.

Written on June 17th, feeling like Summer is finally here in Belgium so I treated myself to writing at a cafe with a nitro cold brew, caffeine coursing through my veins, vibing like I'm a travel journalist in the wild. Hi Global Minds Since my new show, Big Little Italy, came out on National Geographic, I've gotten tons of questions about how this happened. How did I go from YouTube to Netflix, to Nat Geo? *I'm still shocked that it happened, AHHH!* But first, a flashback. It's 2020. I'm in a...

Back in my office in Antwerp, Belgium with frigid fingers because Spring is struggling to make a full entrance. But I'm back, baby. Hi Global Minds There's something uncomfortably poetic about returning home to stillness after so much movement. The silence is deafening. My passport is worn, my voice is hoarse from speaking so much in five languages, and my heart is full from connections that spanned continents. But all of this commotion came at a cost: I've been noticeably absent online. And...
