📓 Setting your intention with journaling

Hi there, journaler

Now that we’re closer to the last quarter of the year (what!?) it’s important to take a step back and plan out the next three months.

As you probably could have guessed, journaling is our favorite tool to reflect, assess, and plan. However, to make the most out of it, it’s important to understand what you want from journaling. What do you expect to get from this practice? What is your intention?

We asked you about intention-setting on Wednesday and you shared a lot of cool thoughts on it. Today is our turn.

We hope you enjoy our suggested intention-setting process and make the most of it. If you have more journaling recommendations & tips, you can DM us on Instagram or respond to this email. We’d love to hear them!

Happy journaling,
The JoClub Team

Tip of the month:

Why do you want to keep a journaling habit?

Over the years, we’ve been teaching you some pretty useful stuff about journaling, but none of it is really going to bring any results if your mindset isn’t in the right place. Today, we’re leaving with some reflective questions that can help you understand the motivation behind this journey and how to make it stick. Hey, you can even journal the answers!

Before we start, we want to clarify the difference between goals and intentions. While goals are focused on results, intentions are more focused on the journey. They’re not so specific, more fluid. Like a mantra, or a wish.

Although goals are great (and you should definitely spend some time thinking about that as well), today is about the intention you have with journaling. A resolution in yourself, who you want to be, and how you can contribute. Hopefully, these questions can help ⬇️

  1. What do you want more of in your life?
  2. What do you want to focus on?
  3. How can you take care of yourself more?
  4. What is holding you back?
  5. Is there something that keeps coming up in conversation or that you can’t get off your mind?

Journaling can help improve so many areas of our lives, from career to self-love and mental health to exercising. You’re fooled if you think it’s ‘only’ about writing down your feelings.

Now that you’ve answered these questions, how can journaling help in improving your life?

Write down your intention in a visible place, so you can be reminded of it every day.

And send us a picture, we’d love to see it!

Just launched a new YouTube deep-dive AND opened registration for our Free Creator Career Blueprint Workshop! Written on June 17th, feeling like Summer is finally here in Belgium so I treated myself to writing at a cafe with a nitro cold brew, caffeine coursing through my veins, vibing like I'm a travel journalist in the wild. Hi Global Minds Since my new show, Big Little Italy, came out on National Geographic, I've gotten tons of questions about how this happened. How did I go from YouTube to Netflix, to Nat Geo? *I'm still shocked that it happened, AHHH!* But first, a flashback. It's 2020. I'm in a...

Back in my office in Antwerp, Belgium with frigid fingers because Spring is struggling to make a full entrance. But I'm back, baby. Hi Global Minds There's something uncomfortably poetic about returning home to stillness after so much movement. The silence is deafening. My passport is worn, my voice is hoarse from speaking so much in five languages, and my heart is full from connections that spanned continents. But all of this commotion came at a cost: I've been noticeably absent online. And...
