Weekend Wind Down: Your weekly dose of conscious content

Hi Global Minds

Happy Friday!

This week has flown by, but maybe that's just what happens when you're in focus mode. Routine Randy is here to stay 🀠.

As a reminder, this Friday newsletter, Weekend Wind Down, is meant to give you some useful and conscious content to consume over the weekend in lieu of doomscrolling.

Or to equip you with a juicy topic, prompt, or fact to impress your friends and family on your social gatherings.

Which reminds me, I'm late for a date with a fact-loving Belgian.

Happy watching, reading, and listening! Hopefully, I'll see you tomorrow and on Sunday πŸ˜‰.

XO, Jo

Today's the last day to get on the list for JoClub's Free Reflect & Reset: Intro to Journaling Weekend!

Tomorrow, one of my superstar facilitators will kick us off with a Journaling 101 session to give you the foundations of this magical tool, and on Sunday, I'll host a Language Lab to show you how language journaling will change the game for your study routine!

Both days are free and will be recorded and sent to everyone who gets on the list. See you there!

🎬 In case you missed it...

video preview

I posted this video last week, and it looks like it's actually helping people plan their year. Yay! I just cut up part 2; look out for that soon 😎. In the meantime, grab a cup of coffee and get the homework done so you're ready for my next installment!

🎧 To listen:

I'm a chronic podcast listener. Maybe it's because I might have ADHD.

I love SYSK, and this episode was so damn interesting, they covered the beginning of ADHD in part 1 as well, but I thought part 2 was more eye-opening.

Just think of everyone with ADHD who thought they were "the problem" when they were just neurodivergent... I might go and get tested since now we know it runs in my family πŸ‘€.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, listen and get ready to be more aware of something that affects so many of us.

πŸ“– To read:

I had the luxury of having a Zoom chat with Tara Schuster, the bestselling author of this guidebook on how to re-parent yourself, take control of your fate, and create a healthier life. This is on my weekend reading list, and I wanted to share it with you, too, so we can talk about it later.

πŸ’– I can't live without:

I found out about erasable pens a few years ago and thought they matched my personality and writing style perfectly. They're ink to prove that I mean business and write with conviction, but I'm not arrogant enough to think I'll never make mistakes. These are also perfect for language learning, as it takes many failures to become fluent.

Written on June 17th, feeling like Summer is finally here in Belgium so I treated myself to writing at a cafe with a nitro cold brew, caffeine coursing through my veins, vibing like I'm a travel journalist in the wild. Hi Global Minds Since my new show, Big Little Italy, came out on National Geographic, I've gotten tons of questions about how this happened. How did I go from YouTube to Netflix, to Nat Geo? *I'm still shocked that it happened, AHHH!* But first, a flashback. It's 2020. I'm in a...

Back in my office in Antwerp, Belgium with frigid fingers because Spring is struggling to make a full entrance. But I'm back, baby. Hi Global Minds There's something uncomfortably poetic about returning home to stillness after so much movement. The silence is deafening. My passport is worn, my voice is hoarse from speaking so much in five languages, and my heart is full from connections that spanned continents. But all of this commotion came at a cost: I've been noticeably absent online. And...
